Blog #5: My Home Town

Tatsushi  Iwamoto

Good evening!

I’d like to tell about my hometown, Kunitachi. Do you know this name? Even if you don’t know it, I don’t care because this town is not famous.

Kunitachi is famous for nature. In specially, cherry trees and ginkgo trees are famous. During spring, cherry blossom comes out all together. Its beauty is beyond description. In order to see such a beautiful cherry blossom, many people enjoying blossom come.

I think I’m very lucky, because in order to commute my school, I had to pass this avenue every day when I was junior and senior high school student.

Ginkgo trees are also planted along this avenue, so during autumn, colored leaves are very beautiful, so many people come to see them. However, I don’t like it, because ginkgo nuts are stinks. I hate this smell, so during autumn, I commute to school by another route. Anyway, there is a lot of nature in Kunitachi except winter.

Seeing is believing, so I hope someday you visit to Kunitachi.

Thank you!

  4. Hi Tatsushi,
I didn't know gingko nuts stink! I really like to see gold ginko leaves on the tall thin trees in the autumn. Too bad about the terrible smell.
I am not sure where Kunitachi is - is it far from Gakushuin? I live in Sengawa and there is a music college there too, called Toho Gakuen, I think. Shirayuri Women's college is also at Sengawa. I use the station every day so I often see students carrying musical instruments on the train.
It's good to have a nice place to come home to after school that has some nice flowers and trees. Tokyo is surprisingly abundant in both.
I think we are lucky to be surrounded by so much nature in a big city.

  9. Hi! Thank you for reading!

Yes, Kunitachi is far from Mejiro. It will take about 60 minutes.
The name of this avenue is “daigaku-dori”. You are right!

However, to tell the truth, I don’t like in Kunitachi. I live in Kokubunnji. There is just my high school in there.

I have never go to Kawasaki. Of course, I know the name. Someday, I want to go there!!
