Tatsushi Iwamoto
Hi! I’m Tatsushi. At first, I want to say that I am sorry for the late blog. I spent 6 weeks in Toronto and I came back to Tokyo yesterday. I thought I could use the internet there. However, because of Wi-Fi trouble, I could not use my computer, so now I am writing this article.
During the summer vacation, I went to Toronto and spent 6 weeks as I wrote in the first paragraph. It was first time to go abroad. The reason I chose Toronto is that I wanted to learn another country’s culture and I knew there were so many races.
I stayed with Canadian woman in Toronto. She is 45 years old and police. She usually told me Canadian culture and I learned many things. She said if I choose Canadian typical cultures, I will select hockey, Tim Hortons, hotdog and maple syrup. I’d like to introduce Tim Hortons and hotdog.
At first, I have a question. Do you know Tim Hortons? I think you don’t know this name. This is a kind of coffee shop. This name is derived from one hockey player’s name. I could see this shop everywhere in Toronto. This shop is more popular than Sterbucks in Toronto, because coffee and foods are cheaper. My host said every Canadian likes Tim Hortons. I don’t know it is true or not.
Next is hotdog. There are so many hotdog stands in Toronto and many people use them. We can buy hotdog, drink and eat it on the street. It depends on area, but one hotdog is about 2 dollars and one drink is about 1 dollar in my hometown, Don Mills. I liked it because it is very cheap, but it is big and I could even put onion, tomato, pickles, corn, and paprika on the hotdog by myself.
If you want to know more information about them, please say something to me!
Welcome back!!
ReplyDeleteI think that you might have a very good time in Canada.

Is that true that Tim Hortons is more popular than sterbacks???!!!

Hi, Tatsushi!
ReplyDeleteYou went to Toronto, I envy you :)
I think you spend good time in Canada with your host mother.
I didn't know that Canada is famous for hockey.
I want to go there someday!
Hi Tatsushi,
ReplyDeleteI was in Toronto earlier this month and I drank Tim Horton's coffee every chance I had (and I had a lot of chances!). It is not only cheap, but it is GOOD! It doesn't compare to Starbucks or even Second Cup (another popular chain) in taste. I wish there were Tim's in Japan. In fact, the first Tim Horton's was made over 40 years ago - in my hometown! Tim Horton was a famous NHL player who died at a young age in a car accident. But he left an amazing legacy behind him in this donut chain.
Did you get a last coffee and donut at the airport before you left Canada?
I did!
